Mother born in Ohio, Father born in Ohio 508 Portage County, OH records of deeds. A third strip of land in Lot No. 40 in Randolph Twp. from Jacob Acre recorded in Vol. 175, p 85. March 24, 1897 John B. purchased land from George W. Bowers and his wife Irene part of lot 40 in Randolph Twp. for the sum of $2500. John & Eva lived in the house that eventually went to Paul Schaefer (still living there in 2002). Eva and her daughter-in-law Lena did not get along, so Lena & Leo moved up the street into her brother's home (Uncle Johnny Weigand). 1904 John and Eva sold land to their son, Leo G. for $1800. March 18, 1914, Leo G. Schaefer sold 55 acres of land to John H. Weigand, the same land that Leo purchased from Lewis Schrader recorded in Vol 194, page 507 also V ol 194, p 509. John & Eva lived in the house that Paul Schaefer was raised in and also raised his family in. Lena Schaefer didn't get along well with Eva, so Leo and Lena moved into her brother's home up the street (John Weigand farm). Summit County Coroner has only an index card stating the following: INQUISITION #114 6/20/1913 Schaefer, John B. Age: 61 Organic heart disease George Bauer was the executor of John's estate, according to the transfer deed to Leo G. Schaefer, recorded the 22 day of May, 1914. Akron Beacon Journal June 20, 1913 pg. 10 column 1 VETERAN FOUND DEAD IN BED Visitor in Akron dies Suddenly of Heart Failure During Night When John B. Schaeffer of St. Joseph's, O, who has been visiting in the home of his brother, Michael Schaeffer of 680 Rhodes Avenue, failed to respond to the call to breakfast Friday morning, the family became alarmed. On investigation, they found that the guest had died in the night. Death was caused by heart failure. Mr. Schaeffer, who was 63 years old came to Akron to visit his brother Tuesday. He appeared to be in good health on retiring Thursday evening and said his customary goodnight to the family about 9 o'clock. He is survived by his brother and one son, Leo Schaeffer of St. Joseph's. The body will be taken to his home and services will be held at St. Joseph's church Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Mr. Schaeffer formerly lived her for 13 or 15 years and is known to many older Akronites.
