Weigand, 79, of Tremont St., Dover, Ohio died Thursday, August 31, 2000 at Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness. Ken retired as a General Foreman for the LTV Steel Company (formerly Republic Steel) in Massillon where he worked for over 40 years. Born April 4, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Andrew and Della Shilling Weigand. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran and member of the Dover VFW where he was longtime Secretary and member of the funeral detail. He also enjoyed music and was an accomplished guitarist. He began performing when he was eight years old. Ken is survived by his wife Marjorie Swinderman Weigand with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on Friday, Sept. 1. He is also survived by one son Ken (Suzanne) Weigand of Cary, North Carolina and his daughter, Kathy (Weigand) Clark of Dover. Two sisters Minnie Johnson of Strasburg and Marie Walton of Uhrichsville along with several nieces and nephews. Private military graveside services will be performed by the Dover VFW on Tuesday in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
