Note: In the 1840's the German Catholic couple of Balthalzar and Sophia (Josepha) Niedenthal helped start St. Joseph's in Dover and St. Peter's in Bolivar. They lived on a farm near Strasburg and, between 1846 and 1850, they adopted an infant boy. (a girl named Anna was also later adopted). The boy was named William Frederick Niedenthal. Family legend has it that he was of Irish stock. William (also known as Fred) spent his life in Strasburg and Brewster, married Christine Newman at St. Clement's in Navarre.
