a. Note:   John Isom Haywood Black and Sara Ada Starnes were cousins. Isom Black told his grandson, John Lafayette Horn, that he would sell molasses to the to the moonshiners in Calhoun County. They had their still deep in the woods behind the Turkey Creek Baptist Church, and he would have to take his molasses to the top of the hill and roll it down to them. This way he didn't know exactly where the still was, and he couldn't turn them in.
