Note: William was named for both his grandfathers. In the 1900 Census for Bell Cty., TX he was boarding with Orlena and James R. Brightwell, who were born in TN, the Brightwells' adopted son Walter Gray, 7, and niece Lea Thompson, 30, born in AR. In the 1910 Census for Jones Cty., TX he was living with his mother Lucy Dale, his son Charlie and Charlie's wife Ruth. In the 1920 Census for Runnels Cty., TX, William Hope and Lucy Dale are living next door to Charlie and Ruth Hope. "He bought 40 acres in Stone Co., Ark on Nov 1, 1884. Doc # 1594 Family story is that William deserted his 2nd wife Mollie and son Elwyn while the family was living in Clyde, TX."
