a. Note:   Peter was the first proprietor of the Stenger Brewery. He and his wife Barbara Stark (Stenger) with eight of their nine children emigrated to the States in 1848 and settle in Naperville, Illinois. His sons, John and Nickolas took over the operation in 1851 until Nickolas's death in 1867. The Brewery flourished and for several years employed Adolph Coors as its Chief foreman in 1873, Adolph headed west to Golden, Colorado to set up his own brewery empire known as, "COORS BEER", today. In 1893, the Stenger Brewery ceased operations because of larger brewery competitions.
