Notes
a. Note:   When her husband Paul Kinder died in 1863, and left her with 5 children, she married the farm boy down the road who was about 10 years her junior. His name was August Lauer and he originally was from Baden, Germany. He became a carpenter of sorts and as traditions have it, hated the Kinder boys. The story is told, that is the reason why Michael started out on his own in the construction business and it was to show August that he did not need him that he was smart enough to do it on his own and apparently he did. It also caused the others to leave home and get away from him as well. It wasn't until recently that I received word from Norbert Schneider that Barbara was born in Bitche, Moselle, France and she had a sister as well. Her name was Christine Andre. When Barbara was 16 years of age, she lived with a family in Pennsylvania named Mohr. She was on the 1850 census in Berks county of that state. The head of the household was Francis Mohr age 30 and his wife Barbara 24 a daughter named Elizabeth 8 1/2 and a Amma B. Rill age 48.
