ON 1850 Census it was noted that he could read and write.He came to Texas c1842 from Arkansas, first in Fannin County then to Hunt County and in 1850 received a land grant for two parcels of property, 640 acres each.He travelled to Texas in Covered wagon. Didnot believe in slavery .1830Adams Co. MS Nov 1, 1817 Probate of Barland, William, Exec. was Jonathan Stoker.and Wit. was J. Taylor also ref: MS Court Records 1799-1835 of Claiborne Co Tax List, of 1834, p.105 lists the following: Robert P. Brown, William, Sam and John Taylor and Charles, Henry and John Brown. Note: James Sinnett married Mary Carroll 20 Sep 1823 Jefferson Co. MS.In Amite Co. . Thomas Brown married Nancy Taylor 14 Jan 1811. ( Browns father and Hezekiak's mother?) It has been said Hezekiah was a lover of hard drink--moonshine likely--but after he became a Methodist he never touched it again.It is speculated that his parents came to MS from North Carolina.Note: A Wm Taylor 1 M, 1F, on 1790 census Of Morgan Dist. 2nd Company, Burke County, NC, & James Stoker 1 M, 1M ch, 2 F, 4th company,near Morgantown, NC. There are 27 William Taylor's in NC 1790 census.Reference Page 81 Claiborne, MS census of 1830, Robert P. Brown head of household, 3 males ages 20-30 and 1 slave female 10-24. Could one of these males be Hezekiak, a half brother to Brown? Page 82 lived Elizabeth Taylor 1 Female 10-15, 1 Female 50-60 and 4 slaves, 2 m, 2 f.( in 1820 census William Daniel who married Elizabeth Taylor on 1 May 1819 in Claiborne Co.),on page 83 is John P. Taylor( who married Mary Daniel 1820-1826) 2 males 0-5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40 & one female 20-30.In reviewing the land and court records in Claiborne county, MS from 1798-1817 the only reference was a John Taylor in civil suite. 1820 Census Claiborne Co. MS lists William Brown 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-45, and 1 female 16-26.also Allen Taylor 23001010010, Brian Taylor 00011000200. Charles Taylor 01010121001.Frederick Brown 1001100110. I have exhausted all sources I know of in trying to determine Hezekiah's parents.
