Campbell, Apr 1989, at Perry MI; notes in poss of Tad D. Campbell; NOTE: Frederick William �Fred� Grundy (n� Carpenter) was born to a couple named Carpenter. His mother's maiden name was Durgee[sic]. He had a birth sister that moved to California. He kept in touch with her until about the time of the San Francisco earthquake [1906] after which he never heard from her. When he was about a year old his mother gave him up for adoption and he was adopted by Rev. Thomas C. and Ann Grundy. Fred took the Grundy name. The Grundys were shirt tail relatives to English royalty and would frequently travel back and forth to England to get more money. Most of Fred Grundy's schooling took place in England. He worked as a lumberjack and foreman in various logging camps in the Grand Traverse County area of Michigan. Later he was a carpenter at Perry MI.
