Tuggle, THE TUGGLE FAMILY OF VIRGINIA: THOMAS TUGGLE OF MIDDLESEX COUNTY VA AND HIS DESCENDANTS; 1630-1967; Baltimore, Gateway Press Inc, 1970; p 149; FHL book 929.273 T817t; NOTE: After his mother died in 1839, William Tuggle was taken into the home of his uncle, Judge William Tuggle, in Barbourville KY. On 23 Sep 1856 he sold the 1/4 interest in the 534 acre farm on Richland Creek in Knox Co KY (devised to the heirs of Henry Tuggle by their grandfather, Thomas Tuggle) and went to Missouri. He cut hay with a scythe on a portion of the ground where St. Joseph MO now stands and remained until 1859 when he returned to Lincoln Co KY and was married. He and his family soon moved to Bell Co KY where William Tuggle engaged in farming and teaching. They moved again and from 1880 until 1885 they resided in Lee Co VA. During the summer of 1885 the family removed once more to Brown Co KS where William and his wife spent the remainder of their lives on a farm, a few miles west of Powhattan KS. [Researched by Tad D.
