Notes
a. Note:   N67 RELATIONSHIP: Peter Hazelwood is placed as the father of Emeline "Emily" (Hazelwood) Campbell based on several items of circumstantial evidence as follows: (1) Peter Hazelwood is the only Hazelwood listed in the 1850 census of Tennessee and is living in the same district of Claiborne Co., TN as Emeline (Hazelwood) Campbell; (2) Peter Hazelwood is the right age to be the father of Emeline [i.e. age 24-25 at her birth]; (3) Emeline (Hazelwood) Campbell was born in Virginia about 1829. The children of Peter Hazelwood born before 1838 were all born in Virginia; (4) Emeline's first son was named Peter H. Campbell, presumably Peter Hazelwood Campbell, after her father; (5) Emeline's first daughter as named Elizabeth Campbell, perhaps for her sister Elizabeth Hazelwood, daughter of Peter. Unfortunately Elizabeth was common in most families; (6) Emeline had a son named Nelson C. Campbell, perhaps after her brother Nelson Hazelwood, son of Peter; (7) Emeline had a son named John David Campbell, perhaps after her brother John Hazelwood, son of Peter. Unfortunately John was common in most families; (8) Emeline had a daughter named Mary C. Campbell, perhaps after her sister Mary Hazelwood, daughter of Peter. Unfortunately Mary was common in most families; (9) Emeline had a son named Benjamin Franklin Campbell, perhaps after her brother Benjamin F. Hazelwood, son of Peter. This is weak evidence as the name Benjamin Franklin Campbell can easily be otherwise accounted for, considering the popularity of Benjamin Franklin; (10) Emeline's son Clinton Y. Campbell named his first son Daniel Campbell, perhaps for his uncle Daniel Hazelwood, son of Peter.
