OBITUARY-DEATH-BURIAL-PARENTS-SIBLINGS-SPOUSE-RELIGION: Obituary of Mamie (Tiner) Campbell from unknown Wichita, Kansas newspaper, dtd 11 Nov 1916: "DEADLY DRUG IN MEDICINE. Mrs. R. B. Campbell, Wife of Coleman Lamp Co. Employe[sic] Dies From Bi-Chloride of Mercury Poisoning. FOUGHT OFF DEATH SIX DAYS. She Became a Mother But Five Weeks Ago-Who Made Error Isn't Announced. Mrs. R. B. Campbell, 19 years old, died yesterday morning at the Wichita hospital of bi-chloride of mercury poisoning, after a five days' illness. The poison was taken Saturday, it is said, through an error in a prescription. Mrs. Campbell was taken sick last Saturday night, at which time she was removed to the hospital. Who made the mistake is giving to the sick woman the wrong medicine is not known. Whether it was an error in writing the prescription, or in reading it, or in using the wrong bottle is a subject being debated and likely will not be settled outside of court if it gets into court. The death certificate throws no light on it. She is the wife of R. B. Campbell, who is connected with the Coleman Lamp company. Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, Howard, a 14 months' old son, and Mary Virginia, a 5 weeks' old girl. Her father is Samuel Tiner of the North End Furniture company. She has two brothers, Bennett and John Tiner, both of Wichita, and a sister, Naoma[sic], 6 years old. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the North End Baptist church with Rev. William Dederick officiating. C. H. Wareham will also assist. Interment will be made in the Maple Grove cemetery. The City Undertaking company has charge of the body." [Researched by Tad D. Campbell, Gilroy CA].
