Royston and father of Norris Royston, Jr. and Lynn Royston, son of Mrs. Mamie Royston, Marshall, VA, and brother of Mrs. Mary Jane Haga, Falls Church, VA. Friends may call at the Royston Funeral Home, Middleburg, VA. Services at the Middleburg Baptist Church on Sunday, March 22, at 2pm. Internment Middleburg Memorial Cemetery, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Middleburg Baptist Church Building Fund." From The Evening Star, Washington, DC, newspaper: " Norris Royston dies, Mayor of Middleburg. Norris Royston, 68, mayor of Middleburg, VA, and a prominent funeral director, died yesterday at the Winchester Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Marshall, VA, Mr. Royston was a graduate of William and Mary and attended the University of Virginia Medical School. Mr. Royston opened his funeral home in Middleburg in 1933, while continuing to operate the Royston Funeral Home in Marshall, which had been founded by his grandfather in 1895. He served on the Middleburg Town Council form 1943 to 1955 and was elected mayor in 1962. He won re-election in 1965 and 1969. Mr. Royston was a former president of the Northern Virginia Funeral Directors Association and was a member of the Middleburg Baptist Church. He leaves his wife, Bertha W., of Middleburg; a son, Norris, Jr., a student at Medical College of Virginia; a daughter, Lynn, a student at Mary Washington College; his mother, of Marshall, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Haga of Falls Church. Funeral services are to be held at 2 pm tomorrow at the Middleburg Baptist Church with burial in theMiddleburg Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Middleburg Baptist CHurch."
