Note: Ezekial Flynn was probably born in Farquier Co., VA. He removed to Clark Co., KY with his father, Michael and family, about 1804. He was a blacksmith by trade. He removed to Scott Co., IL with his wife and family about 1830. He enrolled in the army on 25 Jun 1849 (Mexican War) and was in the battle of Buena Vista in Capt. Montgomery's Company, 1st Regiment, Company H, as Corporal. His son, Thomas H. Flynn served with him. He died before 1850, shortly after being discharged from the army. DISCHARGE OF EZEKIEL FLYNN: To All Whom It May Concern: Know yea that Ezekiel Flynn, a Corporal of Cap't Samuel Montgomery's Company of the First Regiment of Illinois' Foot Volunteers, who was enlisted June the 25th, 1846 at Alton in the State of Illinois to serve for 12 months, is honorably discharged from the army of the United States by reason of expiration of term of Enlistment Law. Ezekiel Flynn was born in the State of Virginia, is 44 years of age, is five feet, seven inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, grey hair and by occupation when enlisted, a blacksmith. Given in Cammargo, Mexico, this 17th day of June, 1847. W. Weatherford Coe, 1st Reg. Illinois Volunteers. (According to his age given herein, Ezekiel would have been born 1804...but he married in Mar 1817, which would make that date seem unlikely.) !Ezekial married Frances Hardesty, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Hardesty, in Clark Co., KY, 20 Mar 1817. He was a blacksmith by trade. He brought his family to Winchester, Scott Co., IL about 1830 and died about 2 years after the close of the Mexican War, Ca. 1849.
