Note: The Flynn were of Scotch-Irish Descent coming from Ireland and settling in Virginia and then on to Kentucky in early part of 1800 . James Flynn moved His family from Clark County Kentucky in 1837 by covered wagon. He purchased 500 acres of Land at $ 1.25 per acre one mile north , one mile west of New Winchester . Lucy spun the Flax and wove cloth to clothe her family of seven children, James owned the first threshing machine in the neighborhood, and handed it down to his grandsons. He farmed 500 acres 1 mi n. and 1 mi west of New Winchester. Lucy Miller was b. 5 Oct, 1817 Clark Co, KY, d. 15 Sept, 1883 at New Winchester, IN, buried Ragan cemetery. Lucy m. James Flynn 10 May, 1833 Clark Co, KY. They migrated in 1837 to New Winchester via Indianapolis and Danville, IN. They settled the land for $1.25 per acre. She joined the New Winchester Missionary Baptist Church (estab. 1834) in 1856 and was baptized. She was the mother of 7 childre, six surviving her, the youngest having died earlier. They had 1 son (my grandfather), Oliver Raymond West, who had 2 children: Jeanette (my mother) 1913-1994, and Raymond 1923-1998. Mary Flynn Munday had 1 child.
