Note: After his graduation from high school, attended Indiana State Normal College at Terre Haute. He Then taught school for nine years in Morgan and Putnam Counties, Indiana and Edgar County, Illinois. In 1891, opened a general merchandise business in Broad Park, Putnam County, IN. Moved business to Lake Valley, Morgan County. Later He owned a number of farms in Martinsville, then Franklin Township, Hendricks County, before moving to Danville and engaging in real estate, loans & insurance.
