Note: Captain Isaac West and wife, Rebecca Ann Flynn lived on a farm 3 m. n.e. of New Winchester, IN. They also owned 80 acres known as the Wayside Farm at New Winchester, just south of the Rockville Rd (hwy 36) opposite of the New Winchester Missionary Baptist Church (est. 1834). Their son, Oliver Raymond West, and his wife Ida Leona Awbrey lived on this 80 acre farm until the great Depression forced them away. For a time during the Depression they lived with their daughter, Geneva Jeanette West (Lambert). West's ancestors were of NC stock, tracing toAlexander and Sarah West, who migrated to IN in 1827 via KY.Their son, Isaac West, was born on October 15, 1804, in WayneCounty, KY. He was married on September 15, 1824, to PollyTurner, daughter of George Turner of Wayne County, KY. Theyacquired over 264 acres of land southwest of New Winchester inHendricks County, where they reared 11 children. Isaac died onAugust 29, 1898, and is buried beside Polly at New Winchester. The ninth child of Isaac and Polly West, Captain Isaac West (B.December 21, 1843; D. March 3, 1932) married Rebecca Ann Flynn(B. October 29, 1850: D. April, 1935), the daughter of Jamesand Lucy Miller Flynn, at New Winchester on October 5, 1871.Both are buried in the New Winchester Cemetery. They were theparents of one son, Oliver Raymond West, born on May 9, 1878,at New Winchester. Oliver Raymond West's wife, Ida LeonaAwbrey, was the daughter of William Thomas and Nannie ElizabethSmith Awbrey.
