Clay Pearson, Trustee, of said County of Fauquier, State of Virginia, of the second part; Whereas the 30th of October 1865 the said Washington Pritchard sold unto Jane Pearson, a certain lot or parcel of land near Cool Spring Church in Fauquier County, VA containing aout 5 acres, who after partially paying for same died. And whereas the said H. Clay Pearson has since her death fully paid and discharged to said Washington Pritchard the balance of purchase money thereon. And Whereas said H. Clay Pearson has purchased of said John, James and Sarah Elizabeth Person, children of said Jane Pearson, Dec'd, their interest in and to said land and every part thereof and has fully paid to them the purchase money therefore. The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, now therefore This Deed witnesseth that said parties of the first part. In consideration of the premises and the receipt from said H. Clay Pearson, Trustee, the full amount of purchase money for said lot or parcel of land, and in the further consideration of the receipt of $1 each to them in hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents. I James Pearson of Fauquier County, State of Virginia being householder and head of family do hereby declare my intension to claim and to help set apart as such homestead the following property viz 26 [3/4] acres of land of the of $785, a mare and colt of the alue of $75, one cow of the value of $30, 2 hogs of the value of $4, household furniture of the value of $50.
