Note: Rebecca Alice (Arnold) Elliott, daughter of William A. and Ada Jane Arnold, was born February 16, 1883, in Logan County, near Booneville, Arkansas, and departed this life December 22, 1967, at home in Texas county, near Griggs, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 10 months and six days. She lived with her parents near Booneville where one brother and one sister were born, then moved to Fannin county, Texas near Honey Grove, where her father farmed. Another son was born in Texas, and her father departed this life on July 26, 1893. The mother married again and they moved back to Polk county, near Mena, Arkansas. Near Mena she met and married Robert T. Elliott on November 15, 1899. They homesteaded 120 acres of land and lived on the homestead where two daughters and one son were born. One daughter passed away in Arkansas. The family sold out and moved to Texhoma, Oklahoma in the spring of 1906, where they worked to J.R.P. Sewell and George L. Aycock, building two houses and farming for them. In the fall they left Texhoma and moved to San Angelo, Texas and lived there until the spring of 1910, when they loaded the covered wagon and returned to Texhoma. They lived in Texhoma until school was out in May 1911, when they moved 20 miles northwest of Texhoma, where they have lived since that time. Her husband passed away May 29, 1948, and she continued to reside on the home place since that time. To this union were born 12 children: six boys and six girls. Her husband, one son and two daughters preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing five sons and four daughters. They are Mrs. Myrtle Sisk, Hobart, Oklahoma, Mrs. Mary Condit, Leach, Oklahoma, Arnold Elliott, Boise City, Oklahoma, Oscar Elliott, Texhoma, Oklahoma, Mrs. Minnie Cayton, Mrs. Ruth Ferguson, Earl Elliott, Bearl Elliott and John Elliott of Griggs. She also leaves 40 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Savannah Yeargan of Pittsburg, Kansas, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors. In 1920, at a Church of God revival meeting at the North Fork school house, where all the children attended, she gave her heart to the Lord and has kept the faith since that time, and lived a consistent Christian life, trying her best to walk in the footsteps of the Master she loved and trusted. She was always trying to help others and was never too tired to help others when they were in need.
