Is Buried in Van Buren. Mrs. Rebecca Phillips, 81 yrs od widely known former resident of Crawford and Sebastian Counties, died Sunday night at the home in San Antonio, Texas according to messages received by her niece, Mrs. W. J. Whitfield, Cedar Street. Mrs. Phillips was born April 2, 1853 in Marion County, Illinois but came to Crawford County with her parents the Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Mitchell shortly after the war between the states. She was married in 1870 to the late Elijah Phillips who for many years operated a truck farm between Van Buren and Ft. Smith and who was fatally injured in a street car accident in Ft. Smith more than 20 years ago. Mrs. Phillips is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Zora Gregg of Joplin, Missouri and Mrs. Dora Latsha of Shreveport, Louisiana, three sons, Will Phillips of Winslow, Arkansas, Virgil and Logan Phillips of San Antonio, Texas, 12 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Miller of Ft. Smith and Mrs. Jane Winfield of Black Springs, Arkansas. She was the sister of the late John T. Mitchell widely known Van Buren man. Mrs. Whitfield and Mrs. Walter Allen of Van Buren are nieces and Sid Mitchell of Van Buren is a nephew. The body of Mrs. Phillips will arrive in Van Buren, Tuesday night and will be taken to the Ocker Funeral home where it will lie in state until funeral services in the chapel of the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm with Dr. O. J. Chastain, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Van Buren in charge. Burial will be in the family plot in Gill Cemetery with the Ocker funeral home in charge. Southwest American Ft.
