Elliott and Miss Mary Allman were married at the home of the bride's parents in West Blue, Tuesday evening, March 6, at 8 o'clock. Rev. Mr. McConaughy of Fairmont performed the ceremony. There were between seventy and eighty friends and neighbors of the young couple present. After the ceremony an elaborate supper was served. Elliott, 53, who died yesterday at his home on Elm Avenue, near Camden, will be held in Grafton, Nebraska, where the body will be sent by Clements and Riker. Elliott had lived in the Camden district for six years and was a native of Missouri. He is survived by his widow; a son, James Elliott, and two brothers, Matthew and Robert Elliott of Oklahoma. _____ Nebraska Signal 2-14-1929 back page. The Late James O. Elliott James Overton Elliott was born in Ralls County, Missouri, May 13, 1876. He died at his home in Laton, California, January 31, 1929, aged 52 years , 8 months and 18 days. He came to Fillmore County about thirty years ago. March 6, 1906, he was joined in marriage to Miss Mary Allman. To this union were born 3 children, two of whom preceded him in death, John and Geniece. October 1, 1921, Mr. Elliott with his family moved to California, where they have since made their home. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge of Grafton. Mr. Elliott had a host of friends and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The news of his death came as a shock to the entire community. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and one son Patrick, also two brothers, Matthew Elliott of Minco, Okla., and Robert Elliott of Gregg, Okla. The body was brought to Grafton Friday, February 8, accompanied by the wife and son Patrick. Funeral services occurred from St. Helena's Catholic Church Saturday. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. Card of Thanks. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbors for their kind assistance during the burial of our beloved husband and father, also for the beautiful floral offerings. I talked with him & he checked records that he & his wife put together on the cemetery. Not listed on the Protestant side of the cemetery. He gave me the number of Richard "Dick" Hoarty, 402-282-7372 who has records for the south side of cemetery which is Catholic or Holy Cross side. 9-29-2007 I talked with Debbie Hoarty. 402-282-7372 They don't have the church records, but will see what they can find out tomorrow. (The priest is out of Sutton.) She took my phone number & address and will get back in touch. (Their cell phone number is 402-366-6315) 11-11-2007 Talked to Dick - He knows Elliott family is in cemetery. James, son & daughter. They will take picture when they can & he talked like he can check church records. Dick is in kidney failure & is going to have surgery on Wednesday for kidney removal. They have 5 children & one 3 year old granddaughter. Most were home today. He was most pleasant to talk with. I told him we would be praying for him. I called Jim Baumann & left thank you on his voice mail. Also called Wanda at library to thank her for help. She will send a copy of the obituary. Offered additional help if I needed it. (Said she could drive to this cemetery for me.) Geneva Public Library houses several shelves of historical documents to aid genealogical research. Geneva Public Library 1043 G ST, Geneva, NE 402-759-3416 Hours of Operation Monday-Saturday 2:00-8:00 p.m. The Genealogical Society of Fillmore County meets at the library regularly. 12-4-2007 Richard Hoarty called with church record information. He had birth and baptismal records for all three children and death/burial information for John, Mary Jennice and mother Mary. (He is doing well and beginning to gain strength back after his surgery. Most nice to visit with.) 12-5-2007 E-mailed Wanda at Fairmont Library and requested obituaries/newspaper account of these three deaths.
