a. Note:   Peter and Margaret had 10 children. Peter Hardman, a son of Peter and Charlotte (Lazier) Hardman, was born in Harrison County VA (WV) July 23, 1776 and died July 30, 1859 in Madison County, Ohio. He grew up on Hacker's Run, Harrison County Va and was trained as a blacksmith and later became a gunsmith. He married Margaret Hacker in Harrison County December 5, 1798. Margaret, a daughter of John and Margaret (Sleeth) Hacker, was born in Harrison County November 2, 1776 and died in Greene County, Ohio July 5, 1815. On December 5, 1787, Margaret was tomahawked and scalped by a group of Indians led by the renegade, Leonard Schoolcraft. Peter went to Bath Township, Greene County, Ohio in 1803 or 1806 and purchased land on the east side of "Tatman's Plain" in Bath Township and returned to Harrison County for two years to work and save enough money to take his family to Ohio. The family moved to from Harrison County to Greene County in a covered wagon and arrived about February 1808. Margaret (Hacker) Hardman died July 15, 1815 and Peter married a widow, Sarah (Adams) Edge in Green County October 26, 1815. Sarah was born near Greenville, Tennessee August 18, 1786 and died in Green County Ohio November 29, 1875. She married George David Edge in Sullivan County, Tennessee February 22, 1803. George enlisted in the army in the War of 1812 and was "sent home to die" in 1813. He died near Clifton, Green County September 27, 1813.
