Note: Early childhood: first in church home for boys with brother, Dick, while parents served as missionaries in NG, then he and Dick accommodated with Minister's widow while they attended High School (Lyceum) at Harderwijk. Nephew Johan George Kohler was Geography Teacher there. Studied Theology at Leiden. In 1942 lived with Parents Dirk and Metje in Ughelen. Married Hannie Willems in 1943 and moved to Voorst: Assistant Minister. In March 1947 served as Minister in Ambon and then in Balikpapan, Borneo till September 1949 when Indonesian Government took power. Became Church Minister at Sluiskil (Terneuzen, Zeeland). Left that church after 1955, refurbished a barge and lived at Arnemuiden then moved to Middelburg where Hannie taught at Teachers College while Joh was a "freelance" Minister. ( Break in information)
1979 Arrived in NZ for retirement.
