Note: Copies of death certificate & burial record Picture of headstone [JW & Mary] OBITUARY [Troy Daily News 06/23/1921]: CARLISLE MAN HAD NUMEROUS PROGENY J W BEAL WAS FATHER OF 10, 21 GRAND AND 11 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN PASSES AWAY AT 88 ARRANGED ALL DETAILS FOR HIS FUNERAL - ONE OF SONS FORMALY RESIDED IN TROY, NOW CASSTOWN J W Beal, one of the oldest residents of New Carlisle, passed away at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening at his home, after having been ill for a year with heart trouble. He was born September 10, 1833, in Maryland, and on January 14, 1858, married Miss Mary Baker of Frederick county, Maryland. He had lived in New Carlisle for 10 years. Ten children were born and those living are Mrs Laura Libby, Misses Eva {*} and Ercy Beal of New Carlisle, William Beal of Osborn, Ollie Beal of Springfield and Oscar Beal of Casstown, who formaly lived in Troy. The wife, two sons and a daughter died some years ago. There are three sisters, two in Maryland and one in Miami City, 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr Beal was a member of the Brethren church. The funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev N Lehmann, of St John Evangelical church, in charge, and burial will be made in the New Carlisle cemetery.
