Note: 10-12-08 Cordean "Corky" Camery: Wrote: I left about midmorning the next day, and drove over those beautiful Mts. My Mother was raised in and near several of the towns I passed, Battiest, Pickens, and Bethel (OK). I drifted back in my memories to the many stories she told me about her life in these Mt's. Her Father, (My Grandfather) Robert Sirus Brewer, (Sye), was the engineer for the Choctaw Lumber Co., so they lived at the head of the tracks. As the lumber was cut the rails were laid on further down and a town built. But until that time they put up a huge tent with wood floors and sides. She told how Grandpa would hold school for her and her sister Nadean, and taught them reading writing and arithmetic. He had great patients with his daughters. Mom loved him deeply.
