a. Note:   a Volz. She grew up in Gamshurst and at age of 19, married Karl Schuh of Gamshurst in 1845. The couple had a total of 5 children, all daughters in Gamshurst, two of which passed away as infants before the decision was made to leave Germany for America. Bernhardina Allgeier Schuh emigrated to the United States with her husband Karl and 3 daughters, as well as her older brother Octavian and his wife and two boys in the spring of 1854. They sailed on the ship "Realm" and they entered the port of New York on 1 June 1854. Bernhardina and her family eventualy settled in Mercer County, Ohio and they raised 7 more children. Altogether, Karl and Berhardina had 12. They appear on the 1860 census for Mercer County They lived the rest of her life there. She passed away at the age of 77 and is buried in Mercer County, Ohio. Her surname was spelled as Allgaÿer as it appeared in the book of baptisms of Gamshurst in 1825.
