Note: . As he grew older and realized that his future was not in Gemrnay, Clemens emmigrated, as well as his 3 other brothers, from Gamshurst Germany. (Octavian, Mathias, and Patriz). All brothers though emigrated independantly of each other. Clemens arrived at the port of New Orleans from Le Harve, France on 4 April 1852 aboard the ship "Old England". On the passenger list, his occupation was listed as farmer, age 23. In volume 10 of the Citizenship records at the Hamilton County Courthouse, page 158, Clemens entered the county on 10 April 1852, and on 22 September 1854 in volume 12 p. 97, Clemens made his declaration for American citizenship. In the June of 1853, at the age of 25 he married Maria A Volmer and he began to raise his family. His occupation was a Dairyman and resided in Cincinnati community of Cumminsville, as indicated by the City Directory of 1876. In addition two of his children appear there too. The 1881 City Directory lists he and his sons John A. and Joseph as residing at 1372 Colerain Pike 25th Ward, and the 1884 City Directory lists Clemens business as Allgeyer & Knapmeier dairy at Badgeley Road in the 25th Ward. The 1890 City Directory lists Clemens in the dairy business located at the rear at 2350 Spring Grove Avenue, and the house located on Cherry Street in the 25th Ward. His last residence was at 4148 Spring Grove Avenue. Clemens died at the age f 73 and his gravesite is located in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Saint Bernard with his wife. Lot 141 Sec. 5. The last address of 4148 Spring Grove Avenue is today a used car lot.
