Note: . He resided in Gamshurst entire life, farmer by profession and married twice. He first marriage was Franziska Weiler of Zell when Melchior was 27 years of age. Together they had a total of 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls between the years of 1810 and 1826. Franziska passed away 10 months after the birth of their last child, Rosa in 1827. Just seven months later her married his second wife, Maria Anna Graf of Ottersweier and this couple had a total of 4 children, but three of them passed away as children. The children of Melchior Schuh and Franziska Weiler are intertwined with our family through cousins and distant relatives: 1.)Theresia 2nd child and daughter, emigrated to the United States after she married a Nicholas Strassburger also of Gamshurst and that family settled in Cincinnati. 2.)Nikolaus the 5 child and 2nd oldest son emigrated from Gamshurst "unofficially" and came to Cincinnati. There are no records in Baden to indicate his leaving since he left without permission. Nicholas is the ancestor of Michael Schuh of Elida, Ohio. 3.)Karl the 7th child, and youngest son, left Gamshurst with his wife, Bernhardina Allgeier, the younger sister of our Oktavian Allgeier and settled in Mercer County, Ohio and raised a large family there. 4.)Rosa was the youngest child of the family and at this point it is not certain if she left without permission also with Nicholas or not...more research is necesaary for this fact to be brought out. There is also no further information about her passing away in Gamshurst or other documents to explain her wherabouts. But she married a Wolfgang Bessler, who is the ancestor of Gene Bessler, husband of our aunt, Anna Mae Allgeyer (dad's sister)who married in 1949. As mentioned above, Melchior was a farmer by trade and passed away in 1833 at the age of 51.
Note: !Melchior Schuh was the second child of Franz Joseph Schuh and Apollonia Braun of Gamshurst
