a. Note:   ords of Saint Nicholas Church in Gamshurst by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The OFB (Ortsfamilienbuch)of Gamshurst incorrectly lists the origins and dates of birth and parents of Bernhard Volz. The OFB indicates his being noted as a child in family #3116, but it should read #3112. His date of birth is actually 11 Oct 1753. Bernhard Volz was the third child and 2nd son of Anton Volz and Maria Barbara Harter of Litzloch, just a short distance from Gamshurst. Bernhard was a farmer like his father and grandfather before him. With the marriage information missing for the communtiy of Gamshurst 1770-1785, the marriage date here is an estimate, 1782, based on first born child in January 1783; which would make Bernhard about 29 at the time of his marriage to Maria Anna Meyer. This couple had a total of eight children, 3 boys and 5 daughters. Bernhard lived in Litzloch all his life and in 1828, at the age of 74 he passed away to join his wife in heaven. She passed away 8 years earlier.
