Notes
a. Note:   Buried in conscecrated ground Eye cemetery. Elizabeth is listed in the 1881 census of Hoxne but is missing in the 1891 census as is her sister Florence. My Grandfather never talked much of his parents. I know he was close to his mother, Elizabeth. When as a 16 year old he enlisted in the First War,he told his mother he would run off if she tried to de-enlist him. He told me she died when he was in India, of tuberculosis, and he always felt very badly about saying that to her. In May, 1997, while visiting with my Uncle Glen Knights, he told me that Elizabeth Knights, my great grandmother, had de-enlisted my grandfather twice previously, which was why he threatened to run off the third time. He told me once Papa arrived at Galipoli he wished his mother hadn't listened to him.
