Note: HISTORICAL MARKER FOR GARRISON IN GEORGIA FOR THE DESCENDANTS OF JEDEDIAH GARRISON, WHO WAS AN EARLY PIONEER OF GEORGIA YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE IS A HISTORICAL MARKER IN FRONT OF OLD MT. PLEASANT METHODIST CHURCH AND CEMETARY FOR ALL THE WORLD TO READ. THE LOCATION IS OFF I-85 NEAR 100 MILES NORTH OF ATLANTA IN HOMER, GEORGIA. JEDEDIAH AND JANE GARRISON AS WELL AS MANY FAMILY MEMBERS ARE BURIED THERE. The old James Garrison, who shows up in Franklin county, Georgia in land draws in the lotteries, also came from Greenville county, South Carolina 1790 census. He was said to have been a brother of Jedediah Garrison, and also from Duplin county, North Carolina, and a revolutionary War Soldier. Some of those earliest marriage records are probably children of his. I believe he moved later into Tennessee (1820 census) but have not been able to verify this. The 1790 census of Greenville county, South Carolina has Jedediah's children: James C. In the spring of 1804, Jedediah and his family moved from South Carolina to Franklin county, Georgia, the area now is Banks county, Georgia. His father Christopher Garrison, being quite old, came with them to Georgia. Jedediah Garrison was a Revolutionary War Soldier, and in 1827 drew Lee county in the land lottery. It was granted on 21 December 1833. Mount Pleasant Methodist Church near Homer, Georgia, in Banks county, was organized by Jedediah Garrison, two sons and some cousins. David and Levi Garrison, sons of Jedediah, were Methodist ministers. Levi returned to South Carolina and preached on a circuit for 10 years. Levi also built and operated the first cotton mill in South Carolina. Jedediah, Christopher and other members of his family are buried at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetary in Banks County, Georgia. In 1989 a marker was placed at Jedediah Garrison's grave by the Daughters of The American Revolution and the Veterans Association, stating that he was a Revolutionary War Soldier. Jedediah Garrison is listed in the 1790 Census of South Carolina and in the county deed books of North Carolina and in Franklin County, Georgia. It shows the amount of land he owned a where it was located. This was posted by B.D. Garrison. fought in the Revolutionary War; War of 1812. Goodspeed's History of Arkansas 1898 states Jedediah was a descendants of five brothers who migrated from England to America. Active member of Methodist Episcopal Church.
