Note: Hezekiah Rouse was in the 3rd Infantry Regiment, Company I Confederate States Army, he was a Private. The 3rd Infantry Regement was organized in the spring of 1861 at Enterprise, Mississippi, contained men from Hancock, Newton, Hines, Yazoo, Harrison, Copiah, Jackson, and Sunflower counties. After serving in Biloxi, the unit was assigned to General L. Hebert's and Featherton's Brigade, Department of Mississippi and East Louisana, and was active in various conflicts around Vicksburg. It continued ti serve under General Featherton in the Atlanta campaigne and in Tennessee and North Carolina. This regiment totalled 572 men in February, 1863, reported 88 casulties at Peach Tree Creek, lost many at Franklin, and had only 71 present for duty in December, 1864. It surrended with the Army of Tennessee. The field officers were Colonels John B. Deason and Thomas A. Mellon; Lieutenant Colonels Samuel M. Dyer, Robert Eager, James B. McRae, and E. A. Peyton; and Major William H. Morgan.
