GARRISON Relation Son Father's Birthplace GA Mother's Birthplace GA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Census Place District 455, Jackson, Georgia Thank you so much, Gary, for this fascinating information. Dr. Garrison must have been an accomplished physician. My late mother was born in Seminary in 1917 but left there as a young child and never returned. Unfortunately, my mother and her only sibling, a sister, who is also dead, did not know much about their father's family. Hence, I am trying to recreate the family's story from geneaological records and recollections. Much to my surprise, you are the first relative of the Garrison family I have ever encountered. Since I know very little about the Garrison side of my mother's parentage, I am keenly interested in learning about this family. Are you knowledgeable about the family, past and present? Could you please help me find out what happened to my great grandfather Walter L. Garrison, his family, Dr. Harvey Garrison, his wife and son, when and why the Garrisons left Seminary, where they ended up, etc.? All I know about my grandfather, Joseph Garrison born 1893 in Mississippi, is that he and my grandmother and the two girls, Mary Franklin (my mother) and Virginia Dale (her younger sister) left Seminary around 1918 and were living with my grandmother's parents and siblings (who were from Alabama) in Norfolk, Virginia in 1920. He enrolled my mother in first grade in a school in Atlanta, Georgia in 1921. I do not know what happened to Joseph Garrison after that time. I have a photograph of Dr. Garrison's lovely house in Seminary where my mother was born. Perhaps that was where your family reunions were held. I very much appreciate your help, Anne Price By the way, I live in Glyndon, Maryland. Thank you, Gary. Walter and Grace Garrison had three other children, who were born in Mississippi: Joseph, b. 1893; Howard Lewis, b. October 23, 1896; and Ruby Garrison, b. 1899. There is a Garrison, Texas, where the family sold land to the railroad. They appear to have run a lumber business there. It's possible that the family was also in the lumber/railroad business while in Seminary, as that was the industry in Seminary at the turn of the century. For some reason, I cannot locate any information about Walter's and Harvey's offspring: Harvey, Jr., b. 1906 in Seminary (who was a medical intern in Memphis, Tenn. around 1930); and Harvey, Sr., Joseph, Howard and Ruby (children of Walter and grace). It is possible that they ended up in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, where Walter was living in 1918, or Texas, Alabama or Georgia. When I get a chance, I will scan the photo of the house, which has been well-preserved. Cambridge, Maryland is a charming town on the eastern shore, but I have never heard of Bucktown. We live in northwest Maryland, near the Pennsylvania border.
