Notes for Andrew Jackson Garrison: This is Randy Garrison writing.
According to My Great grandfather, Andrew Jackson Garrisons death certificate, his parents names are Jeff Garrison and Nancy Ann Woodard. Jeff may be Jefferson or Thomas Jefferson, or Andrew Jefferson, I do not know. According to the 1880 census Andrews father was born in Alabama and his mother was born in Georgia. This census says Nancy is 31 years old and is a widow. My Great grandfather Andrew was born in Clay County Alabama, and his brothers William and James were born in Georgia. I am hoping to make contact with Andrew brothers relatives so I can find answers about them and there parents. I am told William and his family moved to Oklahoma sometime around 1900. I believe they lived and died there. I have pictures of Williams family members but no one here in Alabama can identify them, or know for sure where they lived and died in Oklahoma. Andrews social security registration list his parents the same way , Jeff and Nancy Woodard. Andrew married Artie Jane Jenkins in 1896 in Morgan County Alabama at her parents home. She was born in Georgia too. They lived In Cullman County during the 1900 Census. Nancy was living in their home then. This Census says she is 53 years old. In the 1910 and 1920 there is no mention of Nancy. Andrew and Artie Jane his wife lived in Shelby County in the 1910 and 1920 Census. Andrew worked in the mines their at Acton. Sometime in the 1930,s or 1940,s Andrew and his family moved to St. Clair County Alabama. Andrew and Artie are buried at Macedonia Baptist Church in Margaret, Alabama in St Clair County. Andrew was born in 1876 and died in 1951. Artie Jane was born in 1881 and died in 1967. In the 1880 census William was 9 years old and James 7 years old and Andrew was 4 years old. Since Nancy is a widow in the 1880 census I believe her husband Jeff may have died between 1876 and 1880. When and where he died and is buried is a mystery to me. I think it may have been in Clay County Alabama. Nancy was last listed in the 1900 Census in Cullman County Alabama. I think she may have died there. Unconfirmed stories of family members states that Nancy and Jeff may have been from the Cullman and Morgan county areas would appreciate any help from family members William and James that may help me fill in the gaps of the Garrison family tree.
