Note: Thanks for this information, Gary. Because Harvey D. Garrison was born a year before Joseph and had a different mother, I assume that Walter must have married twice. Also, the Cranfords were a well-known family in Seminary. There is a geneaologist in Seminary, a man whose family has lived there for many years, who has been trying to help me with this project. He struck out though and could not find anything for Joseph Garrison's history beyond when he, my grandmother and my mother and her sister were living in Norfolk, Va. with my grandmother's parents and five of their eight children, who came from Tuskeegee, Alabama. He got this information from a 1920 Norfolk census. He did send me some documents from a Mississippi census showing that the Garrisons all lived next door to one another and near the Cranfords as well in Seminary. That's not surprising because Seminary was a small town, and I think most of the families there at the turn of the century were connected to Seminary College in some way. Thanks, Anne Hi, Gary. I suppose it could be, but I think that Joseph Garrison may have died before 1970. I cannot tell from the record if the person was born in Mississippi. I have census records showing that Walter L. Garrison and Grace Dale had four children: Harvey, b. 1892 in Texas; Joseph, Howard and Ruby were born in in Mississippi in 1893, 1896, 1899, respectively. I also think that they all had the same mother, Grace Dale Garrison. The record showing Elizabeth as Harvey D.' mother is a mistake, I think. Elizabeth Bethea was Dr. Harvey Garrison, Sr.'s wife. By the way, how long did you live in Rhode Island? Our family's favorite summer vacation spot is Block Island, R.I. Have you been there? It's a magical place. Thanks again, Anne
