a. Note:   1910 - Hershell Henry Ford was born to George and Martha (Lane) Ford on June 29, 1910. [Macon County TN birth records] 1920 - Hershell is 9 years of age and is listed being born in TN. He is listed in the house with his father George which is listed as a widower. Hershell's mother died sometime after 6-29-1910 when Hershell is born and the 4th day of January 1920 when this census was taken. I have not been able to find a death record for Martha. [Macon County TN census] 1932 - Hershell was in Lafayette by the end of this year as Granney was 8 months pregnant by the time they married. I wonder if he met Granney while visiting his sister and father that lived close by. 1933 - Hershell marries Ruby Pearl Likens on July 18, 1933. 1933 - 1956 he fathered 19 children, 3 that were lost due to miscarriage, 1 died at birth, 2 died at age 9 months and 1 died at age 3. 1952 - He is living in Indiana with the rest of the family. Jackie was born in Edinburg Indiana. 1956 - Hershell dies suddenly of heart failure at the age of 45 on January 20, 1956, in Franklin Indiana. Notes: I've been told by people that knew Hershell, that he was a kind gentle man, that loved his children. Based on a picture of Hershell that was taken around 1953, he was a tall slender man. I believe this picture was taken after they moved to Indiana. Aunt Rose Mary had shown me a picture taken of Hershell close to the time of his death. At that time he was a heavy man. Hershell was called to preach the word of God. He preached at Days Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church in Lafayette. Hershell and Granney were members of this church.
