Note:   1894 - Born Oct. 6, 1894 to James David and Louvina "Vinie" Witcher. 1900 - Jackson County TN census: Susan Witcher, 6 years of age, born in TN. 1910 - Macon County TN census: Susie Witcher, 16 years of age, born in TN. They are living on Long Hungry Creek Rd. in Macon County. James, Susies father, is listed as a widower. 1910 -Susie marries Jonas Spencer Likens on Sept. 11, 1910 in Macon County TN 1920 - 1930 - Macon County TN census: Susie Likens, 37 years of age, born in TN. Living on Walton Avenue in Lafayette. 1950 - After her husband dies in 1950, she lives in the house with her daughter Lucille in Macon County TN 1965 - Susan Elizabeth Witcher dies on July 23, 1965. Susie died of cancer to the sinus'. My mother remembers Susie saying that if Jonas, her husband, was still alive he could heal her with his herb doctoring. Notes: Susan and Jonas had 17 children, 5 died as infants, possibly at the time of birth. I can't find where the 5 children were ever named. They are listed in Macon's death records as infant Likens. She is buried in the Pulic Cemetery in Lafayette TN. She attended the Church of Christ in Lafayette. It is said that Susan Likens was 1/4 Cherokee Indian.
