a. Note:   Hers is the first grave in Aumsville, Marion Co. OR. In 1848 William and wife Sarah (Coffey) Porter with his four children, William G., elizabeth Nancy, John Hancock, and Sidney Reese migrated to Oregon. After the death of Sarah, William married his sister-in-law and they had three children, Henry Clay, Sarah Louise, and Mary Jane Porter. Also on the train were Williams brother Stephen, his wife Catherine Jane Coffey Porter, and their two children: Nancy louisa, and David Alexander. Nancy Porter Holmes, sister of William and Stephen and her 4 children were on the train too.
