Note: Edith Louisa Reynolds Kelley January 25, 1901 Born in Cheddar, England May 7, 1907 Sailed from Liverpool, England on the Carmina to New York in America with Mother, siblings and Aunt. May 17, 1907 Arrived in New York. 1907 or 1908 Arrived in Lancaster, California 1909 or 1910 Seem to be the dates Edith possibly started school. May 1917 She graduated from Grammer school in Lancaster, California Nov 1919 Received an upright piano from her parents. 19_ _Was president of High School Sophomore Class. 19_ _In High School had scarlet fever, lost all her hair, wore scarf, hat. June 1921 Graduated from High School in Lancaster, California 19_ _She worked at Reynolds Feed and Fuel Store. In album is an order signed by her. Sept 14, 1922 She married Joy Kelley in Lankershiem, California, Now called North Hollywood, California 1923Joy Kelley was transferred to Ludlow, California by Standard Oil of California. 19_ _Edith Reynold Kelley worked at a general store in Ludlow and/or Amboy. A Lady, Grandma Clevenger Cared for Allen and Evelyn. Sept 8, 1924 Evelyn Louisa Kelley was born in North Hollywood, California. at her grandparents home, Sidney and Ada Reynolds. Nov 9, 1925 George Allen Kelley was born in North Hollywood, California at his grandparents home, Sidney and Ada Reynolds. 1934Joy Kelley was transferred to Mojave, California, and we lived at first across the street from the grammar school which was on the highway. 1940Edith and Joy Kelley bought and lived in the home on land Inyo, from Mr and Mrs Robiteur. The home was remolded by Sidney Reynolds. 1940Edith was a secretary and clerk at the counter of the local ration board during World War II. 19_ _After the war Edith was assistant Librarian to Mrs. Rachel Hodges who was the Librarian of Kern County Free Library Branch of Mojave, California. 19_ _Edith was active in the Parent Teacher Association. She was a pianist for the Eastern Star Lodge based in Tehachapi, California. 19_ _When Joy Kelley became a Distributor of the bulk Plant of Standard Oil Products, Edith managed the office. Every Tuesday night Edith Kelley played bridge with seven other ladies, there were probably more at the start, this weekly card game could have started in 1940's and by 1980's as the ladies died, their games, ceased. May 18, 1980 Edith Reynolds Kelley pass away at the Antelope Valley Hospital of a triple simultaneous myocardial Infarctions and died instantly. MT St. Helen, the volcano, erupted May 18, 1980 May 22, 1980 Edith Reynolds Kelley is buried at Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster California, In the Reynolds Family Plots. Message Board Post: Posted by East Kern Genealogical Society Courtesy of Mojave Desert News, California City, Kern, CA Published: 11 Oct 1945 Mrs. Joy Kelley Injured On Sunday afternoon Mrs. Joy Kelley of Mojave, left for Tehachapi on business connected with , her office here and her automobile was caught in another flood which raced down the wash mentioned above overturning it her right hand being severely crushed. She was returned here , I to the Mojave Hospita1 by her husband, Joy Kelley, who was driving the car, and two soldiers, , none of whom were injured, and given first aid treatment. It has been found necessary to amputate two fingers of the crushed member and heroic efforts are being made to save the rest of her hand. Mrs. Kelley suffered severly from shock but is recovering nicely at the present time. Her friends are praying for her complete recovery.
