a. Note:   Captain in 15th Reg, Mason Co., Kentucky, Nov 11, 1796 Called the "CornstalkMilitia". He moved to Illinois in 1801 from Fleming Co., Kentucky with brother John. May have been a member of the Washington Co., PA Militia in 1785. Administration of his estate is in Box 6, Circuit Court's Office, Chester, Illinois, probated on Sep 19. 1825. Ephraim was born in Ohio Co., Virginia, which is now Washington Co., Pennsylvania. Ephraim and brother John arrived from Kentucky in Nov 1801, settled on the bluffs above the town of Kaskaskia, sincewashed away by the flooding of the Mississippi in 1881. Kaskaskia was originally a French settlement and the Bilderback's were among the first "Americans" to come to the community.
