a. Note:   Melvin Clinton Melton LEXINGTON - Melvin Clinton Melton, 77, of 2321 W. Center St. Ext., Lexington, died Sunday morning, June 18, 2006, at Thomasville Medical Center. Mr. Melton was born in Yadkin County on April 25, 1929, to Robert Lee Melton and Faith Ann Permelia Prim Melton. He was the youngest of 11 children. In his earlier life, he was a truck driver for Martin Motor Lines of Winston-Salem and Carson's of High Point. He and his wife owned and operated M&M Motors of Lexington from 1963 to December 2001. He was first married to Patsy Doss Melton of Boonville and second to Joyce White McBride Melton. He was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He had a ministry of helping the less fortunate and older people at North Lexington Baptist Church. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Haywood Melton, Clyde Melton, Baxter Melton, Guy Melton and Calvin Melton; sisters Cora Melton Crews and Lena Melton Parker White; and a stepgranddaughter, Amanda McBride Haga. He leaves behind many friends who delighted in his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed life and being with people. Surviving are his precious wife, Joyce, of 45 years, of the home; two special sons, Clinton Melvin Melton and wife, Leah, of Kernersville and David Lee Melton and wife, Sena, of Lexington; stepson David W. McBride and wife, Georgiann, of Lexington; stepdaughter Linda McBride Perryman and husband, H. Gene Perryman, of Lexington; two grandchildren, Clinton Dale Melton and Melissa Gayle Melton, both of Kernersville; great-grandchild Abigail Melton of Winston-Salem; stepgrandchildren Andrew H. Perryman and wife, Bettie, Russ Perryman and wife, Nancy, and Timothy McBride; stepgreat-grandchildren Rebecca, Erin, Travis and Luke, all of Lexington; sisters Eva Swartzel of King and Evelyn Tuttle of High Point; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Dr. Robert Floyd officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the funeral home, and at other times at the home on West Center Street Extension. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to North Lexington Baptist Church, 201 Mize Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
