Note: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Melton, Calvin John William "C.J." PFAFFTOWN - Mr. Calvin John William "C.J." Melton, 82, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born in Yadkin County on Nov. 29, 1921, to the late Robert Lee and Permealia Prim Melton. He attended Middle Cross Baptist Church in Pfafftown. Mr. Melton retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 36 years of service. He was an avid gardener who loved to share what he grew with his friends and family. Mr. Melton is survived by his wife, Lois Jane West Melton of the home; two daughters, Martha Ann Melton and Linda Sue Melton, both of King; a grandson, Brian Stephen Cook of Blacksburg, Va.; two sisters, Eva Swartzel of King and Evelyn Tuttle of High Point; a brother, Melvin Melton of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Melton will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with the Rev. Tom Maxey and the Rev. Tommy Holder officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Nov. 23, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Middle Cross Baptist Church, 8520 Reynolda Road, Pfafftown, NC 27040. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 11/23/2004.
