Note: [paternal.FTW] [myfamily2.FTW] [dufgard.FTW] [dufur.FTW] [doradufur.FTW] [Broderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #3249, Date of Import: Apr 8, 2003] Jacob and Sarah, along with two of her sisters and their husbands, DANIEL & MARY E. TOWNSEND and PETER & WINNEFORD J. RICHARDS came to Cedarville some time between 1855-1860. Jacob had an acreage about 1/2 mile East of the present Cedarvill postoffice, where he raised cattle, tanned hides, and sold shoes in a small store during the Civil War years 1860-1864. He also had a sawmill during some of these years. Jacob had immigrated from Germany about 1838, probably to Kentucky. The Frazee women were all born in Kentucky, and they had 2 brothers, Simon and Jonas, who probably were killed in the Civil War. Jacob is listed as a witness on the marriage license of the Townsends in Caldwell County, Kentucky where his name is spelled "Shally", perhaps by a clerical error. When he died in 1910, he was living with his son & daughter-in-law, George and Sinda Shelly in Dyer. The grave is unmarked. He kept a $20.00 gold piece in his pocket in his latter years, and told his relatives it was to be used to pay for his burial. The family took his body from Dyer to Sarah Grove Cemetery on an overnight trip in a wagon to bury him there. His grandson, Willie J. Shelly, (who is still living and alert in 1994) says Jacob was 96 when he died, but the Census records that are available indicate he was 92. ************** [dufur.FTW] [doradufur.FTW] [Broderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #3249, Date of Import: Apr 8, 2003] Jacob and Sarah, along with two of her sisters and their husbands, DANIEL & MARY E.
