Note: widowed and living with a family and is written that he is a hired hand doing farm labor. The family last name looks like Pounds. Sharon Wilson (saw@fidnet.com) Sent: Sat 3/15/08 3:10 PM To: Tammy Beckemeyer- Houston (tammy_beck68@hotmail.com) Hello, The dates that I have on his stone are correct. Aug. 17, 1879- 12-26-48. It was dad and Aunt Dorothy That made the trip from the city to Richwoods when he died and they were probably both giving info and nervous and got Aunt Arvella's mixed up with his. Do not have a clue where the 1882 came in but it is incorrect. Grandpa Cantrell was born in 1878, Grandpa Bailey in 1879 and Grandma Cantrell in 1880. Both of my grandpas grew up in the area and knew each other for no one knows now how many years. Mom remembers Pop Cantrell coming home one time and saying Ole George Bailey just about met his maker last night. Some man whose wife Grandpa Bailey had been having some shenanigans with slipped up behind him and tried to slit his throat. I came across this in Meramac Valley Transcript.. newspaper printed in Pacific ,Mo...Under the Allenton News: ( August 8, 1941 ) "George Bailey of Richwoods spent a few days here with his sister Mrs. James Brown . Mr. & Mrs. Jake Brockmeier of St. Louis spent Sunday with her parents Mr. & Mrs. James brown." I want to go through these papers but didn't have time.................. someone had copied 3 - 4 Allenton News out from the papers to put in a file and I got copies of them..... Maybe there will be on a marriage or news story. This was at the 4 rivers historical museum in Washington,Mo.. I did go through a Sullivan 1903 newspaper .. there was St. Clair News but didn't find anything........... Carole BURIAL: Re: GWB? It has been there as long as I can remember. There is a huge cedar tree on the right of the road as you go in the gate, not quite halfway down. He is to the right of that tree , 4 or rows from road. There is a big "Andrup" headstone that you can read plainly from road. He is to the right and a little in front of it BURIAL: Re: GWB From: Sharon Wilson (shar43030@yahoo.com) Sent: Sun 12/14/08 8:05 AM To: Tammy Beckemeyer- Houston (tammy_beck68@hotmail.com) Mom thinks Aunt Sue (his sis) put it there but it is the right place.
