Notes
a. Note:   root digger.. Mom said she wore clothes like a man with lace up boots that went to her knee and always an old hat.. Mom was younger and may not remember everything right . Susie traveled a over hills for days .and maybe would take up squatter's rights in empty houses. She had a daughter . Mom didn't think she was married when the Daughter was born..?? this is questionable.. like you said she moved to Florida.. no one seem s to remember who she married.. a family mystery.. I tried to zone in on her because I thought the root digger was a cool occupation.. not knowing at the time that a lot of people in this area were diggers... Talk Later Carole BIOGRAPHY: From: Jean Seidenstricker ([email protected]) Sent: Fri 3/14/08 9:32 AM To: Tammy Beckemeyer- Houston ([email protected]) BIOGRAPHY: Tammy, That sounds like the description that Mom told about Aunt Sue. Mom also said that she carried a gun (and I believe she said that she smoked a pipe.) Not for sure about the pipe, but am sure about the gun. She was a tough country woman. She would stop in to visit them when Mom was a young girl. I think that she was the one that used to tell Mom and Aunt Dorothy after dinner to - Get to your dishes girls. Tammy, you need to talk to Aunt Grace. She is probably the last remaining family members who knew about Aunt Sue. The last time that I talked to her, she was trying to remember the name of the man that Aunt Sue married. Love, Aunt Gee BIOGRAPHY: Sharon Wilson ([email protected]) Sent: Sat 3/15/08 9:12 AM To: Tammy Beckemeyer- Houston ([email protected]) Cc: Jeannie Adams ([email protected]) BIOGRAPHY: Mom and Carl Wasburn and I were through Richwoods-Providence last week and we were talking about Gr. Bailey's sister Susie that dug roots with him. I talked to her again after Carole's email came through. It was mostly what Carole said. They would camp all through there and over toward Big River for days during the root season. They also went all through that area picking Huckle Berries or what we call Black berries. Mom is fairly sure she died in Florida, her and her daughter or her daughter ran a motel there. I will right it all down this time. Charlene that filled out the death certificate for Nettie is a daughter or daughter in law will write all this down and send today or tomorrow BIOGRAPHY: From: Sharon Wilson ([email protected]) Sent: Sat 3/15/08 3:10 PM To: Tammy Beckemeyer- Houston ([email protected]) Cc: Jeannie Adams ([email protected]); Terry Bradshaw ([email protected]); Sheila Zeigler Adams ([email protected]); Karen Auer ([email protected]) BIOGRAPHY: Hello, Best mom remembers, Grandpa Bailey's sister Susie lived in Florida. Her and her daughter "Mott" either had cabins or a motel that they rented out to earn a living. She does not know Mott's husband name. She thinks Susie was married at one time but is not positive. It would have been before she knew her. Yes, she would carry a gun on her visits here and mom thinks she rolled her own cigarettes, not sure about the pipe. She would stay here most of the summer and head back to Florida in the fall.
Note:   BIOGRAPHY: I heard of Aunt Susie too.... Jenetta's sister. She was a
