The Ft. Smith city directory listed her as a student at the Commercial College and a boarder at the same address with her newly widowed mother. On 13 February 1906 in Ft.  Following Cecil Rae's death at age 32, her mother (Ida M. Moseley) adopted Josephine, Albert, Lucille, and Eugene on December 15, 1922 in the Montgomery County, KS Probate Court. The oldest child, Ruth Pettigrew, is not mentioned in the adoption papers.
********************************************************************************************************** Mrs. Bert Faulkner Found Dead in Bed
End Came Suddenly Last Night, Following an Illness of Post- Influenza Pneumonia
Mrs. Cecil Ray Faulkner, wife of A. J. (Bert) Faulkner, proprietor of a confectionery and fruit store on West Eighth street, was found dead in bed at the family home, 810-1/2 West Eighth Street, about midnight last night. Mrs. Faulkner had been bedfast for several days, having been ill of pneumonia, but death is attributed directly to a weak heart. She had been dead perhaps a half hour when it was noticed that she had passed away. Mrs. Faulkner had never recovered entirely from an illness of influenza three years ago and the pneumonia attack found her in a weakened physical condition.
Mrs. Faulkner was the mother of five small children. The funeral arrangements have not been made pending the arrival of her mother from Los Angeles, Calif.
