Note: Delancy enlisted in the military of the Confederate States of America on Mar. 7, 1862 in New Hanover County, NC. He was captured at Cold Harbor, Virginia on June 1, 1864 and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland June 11, 1864. On July 12, 1864 Delancy was transferred to Elmira, NY. Private Delancy Jernigan died at Elmira on Oct. 6, 1864 of chronic diarrhea.
