 Note:
 Confederate Soldier - Private in Company H, 51st Regiment, NC Infantry. Served under Captain McDugald. Mustered in on Feb. 10,1863 at age 47. He was also with the City Guards of Wilmington for three years. From Sept.11,1863 to Oct.6,1863 he was in the General Hospital at #4, Wilmington, NC for extreme disibility following intermittent fever. He was in the hospital twice, Wilmington and Raleigh. Last records show Absent, Remarks, sick at Batry. Lamb. He later left Raleigh, crossed the Cape Fear River south of Elizabethtown on a raft polled by a black man. He was hiden by a family in some woods north of RPR 1001 until the end of the war. (From the notes of David Batten)
