Gause Bond #:000004814 Note: Elisha lived a few miles N-NW of present day Supply. Muster list of 3rd NC Militia Regiment of 1814. Penison application states that he served in Capt John Gause's Co of this regiment in Deepwater Point and Shallotte Inlet (War of 1812 Pension Applications, NA & Brunswick Regiment & NC Adjutant General's Office, 1873). 1819 purchased 90 ac N side of Caw Caw Swamp. 8 Dec 1825 bought land Royal Oak from Alfred Galloway. 26 Oct 1827 bought 100 ac on Willets Mill Creek from Samuel Robinson. 24 April 1829 200 ac on a branch of LF River from John Gilbert. Shown on later deeds at Royal Oak Branch. 5 March 1831 sold 90 ac NW side of Caw Caw Swamp at the mouth of Cow Branch to Samuel Sellers. Witnesses were Robert Swain & Elisha H Sellers. 8 Sept 1840 bought 618 ac from Abram Baker. 3 Dec 1842 bought 620 ac W side of LF River from Thomas Smith of Wilmington. 23 July 1842 gave his son Hanson K 100 ac of land he obtained from John Gilbert. 9 Jan 1849 bought 200 ac Fall Swamp-Royal Oak area From Joel Cason. 1 March 1854 Elisha and Frederick Arnold jointly purchased several parcels of land on LF River. 27 Fe b 1860 sold Hanson K 200 ac land Royal Oak. 1820 census: head of hh; 1 male 18-26; 2 males 0-10, 1 female 16-26, 2 females 0-10, 2 slaves. 1830 census: head of hh; 1 male 30-40; 1 male 10-15; 1 male 5-10; 2 males 0-5; 1 female 30-40; 1 female 5-10; 1 female 0-5. 1840 census: head of hh; 1 male 40-50; 1 male 10-15; 1 male 5-10; 1 male 0-5; 1 female 40-50; 1 female 20-30; 3 females 15-20; 1 female 10-15. 1850 census: Elisha 65, Anny 70 LF district. 1860 census: Elisha 70, Anna 66. June 1831 appointed to road maintenance duty from LF River upper bridge. Sept 1831, Jan 1835, June 1836 on jury. June 1837 assigned to work on road from Pinch Gut to fork at Robert Clemmons. Dec 1837 paid $200 by sherriff for building a bridge over the LF River at the old courthouse. Dec 1839 jury. June 1844, June 1847, Sept 1849, Spril 1850, June 185, June 1852 jury duty. June 1852 appointed committe lay out road from nathaniel Little's to Wimington Road where it met the Smithville Road. 10 July 1870 applied for a bounty land warrant on basis of his svc in the War of 1812. Application was rejected on grounds that there was no proof of his svc in the records of the Federal Gov't. There is proof though in NC Adjutant General's Office.
