  According to the US cenus of1910 of Puerto Rico, her occupation is listed as "Quehacera de casa, en su casa," or translated in English, housewife. According to my mother, Emelinda Lugo Morales, she was also a "Quinquayera" (someone who sold goods such as pots, pans, medicines, clothes ect. Usually, the goods were mounted on a mule or horse and sold in surrounding villages). Leopolda, affectionately
 called "Abuela" by everyone was also a seamstress.
